Our little cottage at the bottom of an aquarium is really a front for a real life enterprise. In truth there are regular humans at work, not just fanciful residents of an underwater dwelling.
We are enthusiasts and lovers of aquatic creatures (and indeed all creatures) first and running an online shopfront second.
We are a couple of digital professionals who love to keep a house full of living things. We’ve been working together from our home office for years making & running websites for our clients. Gradually we’ve filled our home with over 250 plants, four aquatic tanks and a thriving nature pond. We love natural ecosystems that need a minimum of outside intervention and strive to encourage nature’s balance in each of our aquariums.
We love to use digital technology to help us manage and optimise our ecosystems. Through the years we’ve been improving and meddling with our setup and searching for ways to get more insights into the lives of our fish, shrimp, snails and all the other life in our tanks. From databases of our water parameters to Raspberry Pi temperature monitoring, we love to combine geekery with nature.
So as our interest, knowledge and skills progressed, we found ourselves with lots of excess life bursting from our home. We started selling house plants and aquatic plants on eBay, Facebook and to people in the various online plant and aquatic communities we’re active in. Gradually things developed and we decided to create our own site to share our knowledge & ideas, to sell our plants to people around the U.K and to sell natural aquatic foods we’ve found to be ideal for our shrimp.
Our Submerged Cottage is where we live when we sit for hours gazing into the tank, watch baby shrimp picking over leaves and snails coasting by. In our imagination we’re part of their little lives, part of the community. Although we doubt any of our creatures understand what we are, we’re pretty sure they’ve grown accustomed to our faces and at the very least, associate us with tasty snacks.
Although we’re small and friendly, we’re not slow or old fashioned. We dispatch our orders quickly, package carefully and take enormous care over our products. We want every customer to be perfectly satisfied with our service and find us lacking for nothing.
